§.01 / Why a hat

A sauna hat is a simple piece of physics,
wearing a little ceremony.

01 / The physics

Your scalp gets hot first.

Wool insulates in both directions. Keeps heat off the crown, keeps steam out of your ears, lets you stay in the löyly another round. Nothing more.

02 / The craft

Hand-cut, hand-stitched.

Each hat is shaped on a wooden form by Rozika in a small workshop at the foot of the Julian Alps. Numbered in pencil on the inside band.

03 / The wool

Five farms, named.

Alpine Jezersko–Solčava sheep. Undyed or vegetable-dyed. OEKO-TEX certified. Wool that smells faintly like the field it came from.

Made on a kitchen table,
with five sheep worth of wool.

CozyRozy is a tiny operation. Rozika felts and stitches every hat in a small workshop in Bohinj, at the foot of the Julian Alps. Her grandson handles the camera. Two of us write the code.

We don’t do collection drops. We don’t do restock anxiety. The next batch ships when the felt is ready. That’s usually three weeks after she starts.
